iQagent is an award-winning augmented reality application designed for practical use in industrial settings. It utilizes QR codes to recognize equipment on the plant floor and provides real-time access to relevant process data, schematics, and other key resources on iPad and iPhone devices.

For example, a user can scan a QR code on an assembly line and instantly retrieve live data regarding production metrics, including units produced, production rate, and reject statistics. This data can be sourced directly from HMI, SCADA, PLC systems via OPCDA or OPCUA, or databases using ODBC.

Additionally, iQagent enables users to view preventative maintenance procedures, access trouble reports stored locally, and retrieve production schedules from databases. It also facilitates communication with vendors or supervisors through direct emailing or calling options.

This application serves as a comprehensive data display and recorder tailored for industrial and process environments. It enhances the plant floor by creating a data-rich environment where users can seamlessly access live process data, documentation, and links related to specific machines and processes.

How It Works:

The iQagent configuration utility allows users to create and configure Points Of Interest (POIs) for various equipment, machines, work cells, and processes within the plant. The POI Data View presents live process data configured by browsing existing SCADA, HMI, PLC, or DCS systems using OPCDA or ODBC protocols. Users can also configure graphical representations such as trends, bar graphs, or pie charts. Furthermore, the POI Info View allows for seamless association of documents, URLs, email addresses, or other resources for quick access.

After setting up the POIs, users can print QR codes for each point and place them near the corresponding equipment or processes within the environment.

On the plant floor, the iQagent iPad app allows users to scan QR codes to display the configured data views associated with each POI. A browsing feature facilitates quick access to any POI, along with a favorites list for enhanced navigation.

In instances of process issues or unscheduled downtime, iQagent provides tools to help resolve these costly challenges efficiently. Utilizing patented recording features, users can capture comprehensive snapshots of problems—including live Data Views and Info Views—while simultaneously annotating directly on-screen. An audio feed captures surrounding process sounds and operator feedback. The resultant mp4 video serves as a detailed representation of the issue and can be shared with remote support personnel for quicker resolution without necessitating their on-site presence.

iQagent also integrates with Apple TV for streaming displays to conference room HDTVs, permitting management to monitor process issues in real-time while minimizing disruptions to production.

The app includes an internal mode featuring scanning capabilities for QR codes along with simulated data and info views. Sample QR codes are available online for testing purposes in demo mode.
